Have a little fun with your friends and colleagues while making sales tax projections. Coming soon!
What started as a monthly podcast feature is now a totally free, totally for fun way to hone your sales tax projection skills.
Each month, we post a few questions that you can guess the answers to. Some questions have a small prize for the winner, while others are just for bragging rights. Questions like:
When we worked in city management, we would always make little prop bets about sales tax collections. Over time, it turned into a serious bragging rights contest in the office. When we left city government to work on ZacTax full-time, we thought it might be fun to let others in on the action.
Gameday contests will always be free. This isn't betting or gambling; it's just for fun. For some of the harder contests, we usually offer a small prize to the winner. Prizes vary, and might include things like a t-shirt, hat, gift card, or something like that. Prizes are only offered to encourage more people to play. You don't have to be a ZacTax client, although we do prefer our players to work in Texas local governments in some capacity.
Gameday is a super fun way to bring a little added excitement to each month's sales tax data releases. It's easy to play and it can help you hone your forecasting skills!
Glad you asked...
We prefer you log in via LinkedIn (just for identify verification), but you can also create an account with your email address. We don't use your data for any analytical purposes.
Each month, we post a new contest including a handful of projections you can make. Play one or all! You can change your projection until the contest closes.
The Texas Comptroller releases sales tax data on early each month, usually the first Wednesday unless there is a holiday or if Wednesday is the first day of the month.
We'll announce the winners each month on our Sales Tax Gameday podcast. If you're among the lucky, we'll reach out to get you your prize(s).
